February Letters Flowing in March
After an overseas absence, here is the latest offering of letters.
Choosing the right twig for each letter is both challenging and rewarding, especially where curves are required.
The gentle fragility of each piece embraces a flexibility when introduced to another of nature's elements, water. The process and the outcome a rewarding reminder of the magical alchemy of nature.
Are the twigs stuck onto the paper? Very very beautiful, waiting to see how all the letters will be displayed.
ReplyDeleteHello maya, thank you for your comments. Yes the twigs are carefully glued at points onto the paper. Quite a delicate process as they are not all flat.
DeleteThese are very lovely. I can't remember if they were for place, but for me they take me to a place in the woods where I grew up.
ReplyDeleteSandy in the UK
Hello Sandy, this series is about place, as the twigs are from my garden, and like you I spent my childhood growing up exploring the woods, or bush as we called it, in New Zealand. Expressing nature in my art seems to resonate.
DeleteDelicate twig work and soft delicate grounds ... love these Karen
ReplyDeleteThank you Gemma, as my first venture into A Letter A Week, I am enjoying the process and more ideas keep morphing.

ReplyDeleteAmazing and so delicate !
ReplyDeleteI really like how it takes time to choose the twigs and carefully place them - who would have thought? But it makes you more aware of the preciousness of nature and fragility of all things…this is such a beautiful alphabet.
ReplyDeleteThanks Fiona, I am really enjoying being a part of this project, seeing the wonderful work of others.
