When a friend introduced me to the concept of A Letter A Week, my first thought was to create something organic.
The recent weather events along the Queensland coast, Cyclone Dylan, Edna and Fletcher, rattled a few trees and have provided me with a variety of interesting twigs to create my first alphabet.
In a way the creation of these letters remind me of my Sense of Place, as I am surrounded by trees, and they are usually present in my art practice.
I love these Karen - are they stitched to the background? The background supports them so well too.
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona, currently the letters are glued to the background. That seems to hold them well without being evident.
DeleteI really like these letters! The background texture is a good contrast. what is it?

Hi Sandy, lovely to receive some feedback. The background is wallpaper.
DeleteLove them! They look great.
ReplyDeleteAmazing - it seems as though the wallpaper background was made for the twig letters! I especially like how you made the 'B'. And all of the little 'nodes' (or whatever those little things on the twigs are called) are just lovely...
ReplyDeleteI have this idea that the buds on the twigs will suddenly burst into leaf, and create words!
